- HBM served as a sub-consultant to the Chicago Bridge Inspection Team (CBIT), a joint venture of Alfred Benesch & Company and Collins Engineers Inc., providing bridge inspection services for CDOT's entire bridge inventory of more than 400 structures
- Diverse bridge inventory: movable bridges, fixed-span structures, viaducts, three-sided frame structures, pedestrian bridges, and expressway overpass structures
- NBIS Bridge Inspection, Bridge Rating, and Emergency Repair; Project Management and Document Control; Quality Assurance/Quality Control program
- Project highlights: nearly 200 bridge inspections annually, including 41 movable bridges; permits from CDOT, the U.S. Coast Guard, and railroad authorities; bridge load-capacity ratings using AASHTOWare or equivalent; inspections per NBIS, AASHTO, IDOT, and CDOT requirements (routine, initial, special, fracture critical, underwater, element level, plus mechanical/electrical for movable bridges)
